Shane Hansen is an artist, a designer of graphics, furniture and fashion, a loving husband and doting Dad to two gorgeous boys. Born in New Zealand in the 1970’s, he is of Maori (Tainui, Ngati Hine, Ngati Mahunga), Chinese, Danish and Scottish descent, which is reflected in his art. Shane’s creations spring from the characters, creatures, moods, memories and moments lying deep within the country he calls home. His artistic world is one of bold colours, modern Maori motifs, optimism and clarity inspired by his multi-cultural heritage and an admiration for pop-art, strong graphics and a profound appreciation of the landscapes that surround him.
“My mahi is my way of connecting with those around me. I am lifted by the positivity that comes from those wanting to connect with myself and my mahi.”
This limited edition collection is made from bone china, a very fine china that is made translucent due to a percentage of bone ash mixed in with the clay. It is an extremely light and beautiful material which allows the light to shine through.
